Service-Learning Information for
Community Partners
Service-Learning is an educational experience that relies
on students volunteering between 3 and 5 hours per week
with specific learning objectives determined by the purpose
of the course. MU’s Truman School of Public Affairs, College
of Education, College of Business, School of Social Work,
and Departments of Geography, Psychology and Sociology representative
of the programs that incorporate service-learning into their
curriculum.
Students learn that the community has assets
within it’s organizations and from it’s citizens and that
volunteering with them adds value to their education. In
exchange for mentoring and guiding our young people, community
agencies gain an increased capacity to serve their community
members.
The Office of Service-Learning is always interested
in discussing new projects and partnerships. If you would
like to update your agency information with us, please log
on to MU Serves.
If you would like to establish a community partner relationship
with MU, please call our offices at 573-882-0227.
At the beginning of each semester, the Office
invites faculty, agency supervisors and graduate assistants
to a training and orientation session. You can RSVP for
our August 16, 2007 session by emailing servicelearning@missouri.edu.
We look forward to working with you.
